Lego continues its work with Nintendo with a reveal of a set from the beloved franchise.
Danish brickmaker just presented their newest set from the Legend of Zelda series. It is quite an intricate set that lets you build the iconic Deku Tree from either Ocarina of Time or Breath of the Wild. I really like the idea of this 2 in 1 set. It gives me a lot more ideas for the next Lego Nintendo sets.
The Zelda set was a long time coming and it seems like the Lego people have once again done a great job. It contains 2500 pieces, which means plenty of work for brick enthusiasts. Especially since you can build the set two different ways, in both setups you can build and animate the face of the Deku Tree in several ways, opening his mouth, revealing an in-game enemy, Skulltula, or moving his eyebrows.
Depending on the game you will choose with your build, you’ll set up a pedestal with the legendary Master Sword, the most famous weapon from the franchise. You’ll also be able to build Link’s house. I’m sure I will mix everything up a bit and check different ways to finish this set. It’s probably my favorite thing about Lego, doing stuff my way.
The set includes four main minifigures of Zelda and Link from Breath of the Wild, sporting their fancy blue outfits, as well as young and adult Link from Ocarina of Time. Besides main minifigures, you’ll also find additional characters and creatures from both games, such as Hestu, Koroks, Deku Babas, Navi the Fairy, Skulltula, and the Deku Sprout.
The Legend of Zelda producer, Eiji Aonuma, commented on Lego’s newest set:
I’m really thrilled that The Legend of Zelda is joining the world of LEGO bricks, which has spurred the creative impulses of so many people of all ages.
I think choosing the Deku Tree as the first set from the Zelda franchise was a good choice. It is an iconic character, which every Zelda fan will recognize immediately. Especially those who played The Ocarina of Time as a kid. And I think that group will be the biggest target for this Lego build.
The Deku Tree set was designed by Wes Talbott, who was said to be very excited about his new creation, being a Zelda fan himself.
…we were delighted to work with Nintendo to create the Great Deku Tree in brick form. As a fan of the franchise, it was great to work on this set and fill it with details and references from the games.
The first Legend of Zelda Lego set will be available for 299.99$. Preorders already started and the set will be available from the 1st of September 2024.
