The Japanese gaming giant will finally open another store in The United States in 2025.
Nintendo just announced their plan to open a second official store in America, specifically in San Francisco. This means Americans will get another official Nintendo Store outside of New York City.
Not much is known about the new shop besides the location and that it will open in 2025. The store will open in San Francisco’s Union Square. Nintendo will likely share more details about their new US location in the coming months.
According to the official Nintendo statement, a new store will provide “a way for a wide range of visitors from near and far to experience the world of Nintendo, its products, and characters.”
So far we only could visit an official Nintendo Store at Rockafeller Plaza in Manhattan in New York City. It is a two-story location covering 10,000 square feet of surface, where Nintendo fans can purchase their systems, games, merchandise, and more. The store contains a huge screen where fans gather to watch official Nintendo announcements. It is also a place to see the history of Nintendo consoles, as they are presented in a nice cabin. Plus you’ll see a bunch of statues, paintings, screens with animations, and more.
I’ve visited the store myself and it is a nice treat for a Nintendo fan, although I’ve seen much nicer planned stores from other companies. Hopefully, the new store will provide more bells and whistles.
Other than the USA, Nintendo naturally has its stores in Japan. You can shop for the Big N games and more in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. You can find one in Tel Aviv, Israel as well.
Aside from the official standalone stores you can shop at Nintendo World theme parks in Japan and The United States. But these stores are quite small compared to the standalone shops.
The new location’s official name will be Nintendo San Francisco and I assume it will be quite similar to the other stores around the World, so might not be too crazy. We will see. I hope for a few official stores in Europe in the future, as it is a fun experience for fans, such as myself. Even if the stores leave a bit to be desired.
